Contraindication

In medicine, a contraindication is a criteria or circumstance (e.g. a certain disease or pregnancy) that prohibits a diagnostic or therapeutic measure for a given indication from taking place or only makes it possible under strict consideration of the resulting risks. Therefore, a distinction is also made between an absolute and a relative contraindication.
