Itching

Itching is known in medicine under the technical term pruritus. It refers to a change in the skin area that causes one to scratch the corresponding area. The change can be caused by various factors, such as allergies, parasites or insect bites. If the itching lasts longer than 6 weeks, it is also called chronic pruritus.
