Solar plexus

The term solar plexus is composed of the Latin words “solar” (sun) and “plexus” (complex, intertwined, entwined).

It describes a vegetative nerve plexus in the abdominal cavity of the human body. This autonomic nerve plexus serves to control some organs such as the stomach or intestines through a high accumulation of sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve fibers. In this context, the solar plexus is also called “brain of the abdomen” or “center of emotions“.
